How I’m Keeping my Skin Young & Radiant

I’m often asked how I keep my skin young and radiant looking. After struggling with adult acne, I was able to clear my skin and keep it clear over the past several months. With this skin problem behind me, I’m transitioning into more anti-aging skin health regimens. That is why I’m using retinol to help keep my skin young and radiant while avoiding procedures or treatments to achieve this.

I’m commonly seeing more discussion about this topic for women in their late twenties and early thirties. Many dermatology experts are recommending botox for this age range to help prevent early-onset wrinkles. For me, I’d prefer to avoid treatments or procedures and stick with creams or lotions to incorporate into anti-aging skin health.

My aesthetician recommended I start transitioning to retinol. I’d been using Dermalogica’s MAP-15 over the past 2 years for spot-treating skin discoloration caused by acne and this was the next step moving forward. She recommended retinol applied once a week to specific areas. Once my skin got used to the retinol treatment, I could increase the frequency of use and eventually the concentrated version of the retinol product.

Dermalogica’s retinol treatment comes with a buffer cream. Because of my sensitive skin, I’ve opted to continue using Skin Smoothing Cream instead of the included buffer cream. I apply the retinol once a week in very small amounts directly to my forehead, chin, and upper lip. Currently, I am not applying it to my nose or cheeks. I follow up with my Skin Smoothing Cream to moisturize my entire face.

Have you tried retinol? What are your thoughts about incorporating it into your skin health routine starting from late twenties or early thirties? Comment below please.
